Kropki Sudoku Puzzles – Play Sudoku with Kropki Dots
Kropki Sudoku is a Sudoku variant where black and white dots are added between cells in the Sudoku grid.
These dots represent an additional constraint beyond the regular rules of Sudoku where:
- The two cells between a white dot are consecutive (such as 2 & 3 and 7 & 8).
- The two cells between a black dot have a ratio of 1:2 (that is, one digit is double the other such as 2 & 4 and 3 & 6).
The dots will only appear between orthogonally adjacent cells. They will not appear between cells diagonally. This means there are no ambiguities of which two cells the dots are constraining.
Unless stated otherwise, you also should not assume that all Kropki dots are given.
In other words, just because there is no dot between two particular cells, it does not necessarily mean they cannot have a consecutive or 1:2 ratio relationship between them.
It’s also worth paying attention to the rules of the particular Kropki Sudoku puzzle you’re playing as something the rules for the black and white dots will be reversed.
Of course, standard Sudoku rules also apply (every row, column and 3×3 box must contain the digits 1 through 9 exactly once each).
